By integrating data from MooLogger sniffers across Canada—including British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec—we help create the massive datasets required for high-accuracy genetic selection.

The Sniffer Data Pipeline handles the complex task of aggregating data from various regions into a unified database for genetic evaluatios. Led by Qualitas AG, this project has partners from multiple institutions, such as Holstein Switzerland and the Association of Swiss Cattle Breeders.

Independent, Client-Owned Infrastructure

Unlike a centralized SaaS platform, the Sniffer Data Pipeline is deployed as a dedicated instance for each organization. Both Lactanet/University of Guelph and Qualitas Ag maintain their own independent relational databases. This ensures that all research data remains within the institution's own secure environment, providing total data sovereignty and privacy.

Multi-Institutional Authorization

The Challenge of Scale

As research projects grow, managing access becomes complex—especially when multiple funding institutions are involved. We’ve upgraded our software to support Multi-Institutional Research, ensuring clear boundaries between funded projects for different users.

Role-Based Access Control:

Super User: Full access including user management, all data export features, and ability to create new projects, farms, and sniffers.
Project Admin: Access to admin features for their own projects (farms, sniffers, and alerts) and all data export features, but cannot manage users.
Researcher/User: Access to view and explore sniffer data, sniffers and events, plus admin alerts and export logs for their own projects.
Tech Support: Restricted access for external contractors to perform installations and calibrations. All features from regular users, except they don't receive alerts.
